Here are some nonprofit organizations that offer financial assistance to pet owners. Like all animal welfare agencies these days, many of these funds are strained–so if you’re not in need of help, these funds are always seeking donations!

AAHA Helping Pets Fund www.aahahelpingpets.org This arm of the American Animal Hospital Association provides assistance for emergency and non-elective treatment of abandoned pets and pets whose owners are facing financial hardship.
Angels4Animals www.angels4animals.org This nonprofit’s program Guardian Angel works directly with veterinary clinics to help provide assistance to pet lovers who are facing euthanization or surrendering of a pet because of financial limitations.
Brown Dog Foundation www.browndogfoundation.org This nonprofit works with pet owners in temporary financial strain who are seeking veterinary help for their pets for a treatable but life-threatening illness.
Canine Cancer Awareness caninecancerawareness.org This nonprofit helps pet owners who cannot pay for canine cancer treatment; payments go directly to vets.

Help-A-Pet www.help-a-pet.org Help-A-Pet specializes in providing financial assistance to help the pets of senior citizens, physically and mentally challenged individuals, and children of the working poor.
IMOM.org www.imom.org IMOM provides funding for non-routine veterinary care for companion animals.
Jake Brady Memorial Fund www.myjakebrady.com This fund works to help seniors, physically and mentally challenged adults, low-income families, and unemployed individuals who are having difficulties paying for non-routine veterinary help.
The Mosby Foundation www.themosbyfoundation.org Financial assistance for life-saving emergency veterinary care is the focus of this foundation.
The Pet Fund www.thepetfund.com The Pet Fund is not for emergency care but is aimed at providing assistance for costs beyond the normal expenses of vaccination, spay and neuter surgeries, food and routine veterinary care.
United Animal Nations LifeLine Grants www.uan.org The LifeLine Individual Grant is designed to help pets with a responsible owner who cannot afford the cost of urgent and lifesaving care. This organization also offers the LifeLine Rescue Grant to help a rescued animal that has been taken from a life-threatening situation within the past month. For people who have been struck by personal disaster, ranging from domestic violence to house fires to natural disasters, they offer LifeLine Crisis Relief for individuals to help with the cost of pet care.
